APCA points to ‘corruption’ in ACE

The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) Anti Corruption Unit alleged the Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) was plagued by corruption because Director General Abid Javed appointed corrupt officers.

Without naming ACE officers, the association members said during a hurriedly-called meeting on Thursday that these officers were facing inquiries over corruption charges.
Speaking on the occasion, Irfan Manzoor, the association president, said the DG appointed corrupt officers who were influencing inquiries and minting money from the people.
It was alleged that the ACE management was very strict regarding even fake complaints against employees and office bearers of APCA.
They said that recently director ACE suspended one senior clerk Zahoor without holding inquiry against him.
Similarly office superintendent, Ali Akbar was transferred from Bahawalpur to Lahore without any allegation. Due to transfer the education and schooling of his children was suffering badly. They demanded the cancellation of his transfer so that education and schooling of his children could not suffer.

PML-N preparing to rig LG polls: Q

Alleging the ruling party of having prepared a plan to rig local government elections, top Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Thursday demanded the election commission to take a notice of the matter.
Addressing a news conference at Muslim League House here, Pervaiz Elahi said foul play by the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in local polls would bring a bad name to the election commission.
He was of the view that the commission would become a victim of vote-rigging if it failed to take a timely action, and said local elections under supervision of district administrations would not be acceptable to any party except the ruling party. 
The PML-Q Punjab president also questioned how transparent local elections could be held under supervision of DCOs, patwaris and tehsildars when DCOs would be acting as returning officers and their subordinates as presiding and assistant presiding officers. Election results would bring a huge hue and cry after from all the political parties, he said while adding presiding officers who would not influence voters to vote for the ruling party would get punishment.
He said during his stint in power, heads of local bodies used to write ACRs of DCOs and DPOs but according to the new law tehsildars would be writing ACRs of chairmen and vice-chairmen of local bodies.
He added the PML-Q government had provided ideal administrative and financial powers and funds through the provincial finance commission to local governments.
He said local bodies’ system enforced by the incumbent provincial government was against the basic spirit of local governance.
To a query regarding electoral arrangements, he said the PML-Q would make seat adjustments with all likeminded parties.
Prominent among those present at the news conference were Muhammad Basharat Raja, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Khan, Nasir Ramzan Gujjar, Sardar Asif Nakai, Nasir Mahmud Gill and Seemal Kamran.

LTC launches new bus service

12th Dec 2013, Lahore

Lahore Transport Company (LTC) has launched a state-of-the-art bus service in collaboration with the Turkish company platform from the Lahore airport to various parts in the city.

In the beginning 18 buses will be plied on B-08 route (General Bus Stand to Lahore Airport) while 16 buses will be operational on B-28 route (Green Town to Lahore Airport). New bus service will provide relief to the people who were averse from the dearth of public transport.

On the occasion, LTC Chief Operating Officer Omar Pirzada, Airport General Manager Syed Aamir Mahboob, Chief Security Officer Col Farhat Kiyani, DMD Platform Tanweer Siddiqui, Manager Enforcement Shafique Ahmad, PRO Airport Kamran Malik and Deputy Head of Communication Nasir Hussain were also present on the inauguration of bus service.

Jamaat-e- Islami announces a campaign against privatization

Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has announced launching of a full scale campaign against the sellout of important national institutions in the name of privatization, with the active support of political and religious parties besides workers.
In his presidential address at an all parties anti Privatization conference at Mansoora, he said that in spite of harmful results of privatization, the rulers wanted to hand over state institutions to their favourites on throw away prices. He said if the rulers could not run these institutions, they should admit their failure and withdraw their tall promises made to the public during the election campaign.
He said instead of checking corruption and mismanagement, the government was planning to sell state institutions to the people who were actually responsible for their present condition. However, he said the rulers’ designs in this regard won’t materialize.
The JI Ameer called upon the rulers to account for the huge amounts obtained from the sell out of the national banks and other institutions in the past.
The moot was also addressed by JUP’s Pir Ejaz Hashmi, PPP’s Naveez Chaudhary, Ahle hadith scholar Hafiz Ibtesam Elahi Zaheer, NAP’s Ehsan Wyne, JUI’s Maulana Sanaullah, PTI’s Rana Zubair Abdullah, NLF’s chief Shamsur Rahman Swati, PREM Union leader Hafiz Salman Butt, WAPDA Piagham Union’s S.D. Saqib.
JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, in his address, called upon the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to explain why the Punjab province was getting an unfair treatment under the PML(N) federal government in respect of the CNG supplies. He said the rulers were least interested in controlling corruption, the root cause of economic crisis. He said, the secret of the progress of the advanced countries was that they built national institutions on strong footings and their workers were given their rights and facilities which increased their efficiency and productivity.
Hafiz Ebtesam Elahi Zaheer suggested that instead of selling out state institutions, the rulers should sell out their palaces. He said the rulers had filled their coffers by plundering public wealth.
He remarked that if the people voted to power the capitalists and US slaves, they should be ready to such problems. He said the solution of the ailing economy of the country was not with the IMF or the World Bank.
ANP’s Ehsan Wyne lauded the services of the JI for the country and the nation and for democracy.
JUI’s Maulana Sanaullah , in his address, remarked that in fact the rulers were heading for familization of the institutions in the name of privatization. He said, privatization gave birth to exploitation and injustice.
PPP leader Naveed Chaudhary said that the national institutions were state symbols and their sellout was against national interest. He said that the rulers ere feeding the already rich by depriving the poor of their two time meals.
