Friday, nov 29th 2013
This was the largest ever meditation gathering in Lahore, where international celebrities, business people, government officials, students, housewives and citizens at large came together to take a stand for peace. Naeem Zamindar, Tahira Babar, Zarmina Durrani and Farida Azad Iqbal led the meditation but the event was organised by the Art of Living organisation volunteers who travelled from all over Pakistan.
Naeem Zamindar said that the event has “created a wave that will change the tide of our society, laying the foundation for an enlightened society, a wave that will wash away violence, misery and intolerance and bring forth joy, love and beauty into our lives”. The outpouring of support was amazing and millions of people participated through the web broadcast and television coverage by electronic media and many more journalists who wholeheartedly participated in this historic event.
One of the main organisers Farheen Ahmed said, “It is so inspiring to see Pakistani’s take a stand and make a statement that we are taking the responsibility and being the change.”
Gulnaz Sheikh said that it was beautiful to experience such a power of meditation and she could see how it was going to bring forth a peaceful revolution.
The event was inspired by the founder of the Art of Living, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s vision of a violence and stress free world.
